Doing the deal

Once your music has been accepted by Magnatune, here are the steps to finalizing things:

  • Look at the contract terms at terms and see if they seem good to you.
  • Postal-mail your CD to us at Magnatune, 2070 Allston Way, Suite 102, Berkeley CA 94705. Or, make 44k/16bit .WAV files available over the web (or upload them to ftp://ftp.magnatune.com/incoming/).
  • Sign the distribution agreement.
  • Fill out a one-page US government form. If you are a US citizen, this is a W-9 form. If you are not a US citizen, this is a W8-BEN form (for help, see our W8-BEN EXAMPLE).
  • Fax both the distribution agreement and the US government form to us at (510) 217-6374 (USA) or 44 87 0460 4987 (U.K./Europe). Send us an email to tell us about the fax. We'll sign the agreement, and email you a PDF with both our signatures. There is no need to postal mail the agreement to us, but if faxing it difficult for you, postal mail your paperwork to: Magnatune, 2070 Allston Way, Suite 102, Berkeley, CA 94704 USA.
  • You will then email us your album artwork, as well as your PR materials (photographs, bios, etc). You can send them as email attachments, or indicate URL links to your site, or upload to ftp://ftp.magnatune.com/incoming/.
  • You're done! We'll be in communication with you when your page is ready for your review.
